Roland K. Jahnke

Academician, Vice President

In his capacity of Vice President, Roland Jahnke has long-standing comprehensive knowledge and experience relating to the transformation of public administrations, large-scale companies and quality organizations to efficient international organizations and global players.

In different management functions, he could, in Germany, collect comprehensive experience in logistics both in the former Federal Ministry for Postal Services and Telecommunications and the follow-up organization Deutsche Post DHL. The Group, which has 470,000 employees in more than 220 countries and territories, is now the biggest employer in Europe and the 6th biggest world-wide. Deutsche Post DHL has meanwhile become a successful world market leader in the mail and logistics sector. Roland is an experienced and leading expert in Global Business Excellence in the sector of Postal and Express companies around the world

Since 2002, he has been active as a European Excellence Award Assessor of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), Brussels. In 2006, he became a Member of the Board of Examiners of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (U.S.). Since 2013, Roland has been an elected Member of the Global Advisory Committee of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), U.S. Moreover, he has been the ASQ Counselor Europe since 2014. In 2015 he became an elected ASQ Fellow. Furthermore Roland became in 2010 Academician of the International Academy for Quality (IAQ), Chairman of IAQ’s Quality in Education Think Tank (QiETT) and in 2015 IAQ Vice President.

Roland studied economics in Germany. In congruence with the global development of Deutsche Post DHL, he pursued further international studies: Executive MBA studies in the U.S. and Europe and the European Master Program in TQM/Business Excellence. By now he is Dr. cand. of the University of Gloucestershire, UK. Furthermore, he qualified himself as an International Lead Auditor (Quality Management Systems).

In addition, Roland K. Jahnke is committed to sustainability. In the education sector, he took part at global and regional conferences/forums organized by UNESCO. Since 2011, he has been IAQ’s Representative at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris. From there, he was, among other things, employed as a UNESCO observer

Since 2004, he has been a delegate of the Global University Network for Innovation in Barcelona. Different universities and quality organizations on all continents have invited Roland as a keynote speaker, panelist and session chairman at international/global conferences and seminars. Since 2012, Roland has, in the capacity of Chairman of IAQ’s QiETT, led a new IAQ large-scale project, namely “Quality Education in Asia/Oceania”. In the course of this initiative, he also acted as the Chairman of several IAQ/ANQ Symposiums in cooperation with the Asian Network for Quality (ANQ). In 2014, he led additional new activities of IAQ’s QiETT in the region of South America. Roland publishes papers in international journals and books. In 2015 he became an International Visiting Professor at different Universities in Asia Pacific.
