Kenji Iino

Dr. Kenji Iino, with an MSME degree from the Univ. of Tokyo joined GE Nuclear Energy in San Jose, California, USA. After 4 years of plant startup, remote tooling design, analysis, and system design, he went back to school for his doctoral study at Stanford University to earn a Ph.D. in ME/CS. After serving as the manager of Software Research Center at Ricoh Corporation in USA, he founded SYDROSE LP in 2000 and is now the General Partner. The partnership provides technical translation and web-based database information processing services. Dr. Iino also holds the Executive Director position to operate the Association for the Study of Failure (ASF), an NPO registered with the government of Tokyo. ASF is chaired by Prof. Yotaro Hatamura who also led the Japanese government Investigation of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant accident in 2011. Dr. Iino has published a number of papers at ASME and a few books about mechanical design and the study of failure. He has also translated some books from Japanese into English, most, recently “The 2011 Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Accident, How and Why it Happened” by Woodhead Publishing.
